Leaving the nest…

Lovely Sam, age 18, photographed for the ‘Children and Young People of Aotearoa’ project. Sam is part Mexican, part American, and his formative years were spent growing up in NZ.  It was such a privilege to photograph him and his beautiful mum, Wellington photographer Mandi Lynn, shortly before he left NZ to study in the USA. Photographed on their family blueberry farm, in winter light and sunshine. “What is the best part about living on a blueberry farm? You might guess having an unlimited supply of blueberries, getting to raise animals, running a café or swimming in the river? And while all of these […]

Beautiful bali…

Finishing the year that was, with something a little different from me. Bali, early morning, before dawn – and as the sun rose on a hazy, hot, humid, fish market…and a fashion wedding shoot happening on a the beach. Amazing memories.. All shot on the Nikon D810, and the PC-tilt shift 45mm lens (I travelled with this one lens only to challenge myself to learn how to use it and to see what I could do with it!)

A beautiful family…an amazing day

I spent the best part a day with this wonderful family at their remote hut. Unforgettable – every part of it, from the trip in, the time spent with them, the privilege to photograph them all at this amazing place. I think the images speak for themselves really… it makes me feel truly blessed to be able to work, and create beautiful long-lasting memories, with such genuine and lovely people. Thank you to the beautiful Ferguson family…from the bottom of my heart. ‘Esther really is fantastic! Lovely to work with, brilliant with the kids. I actually cried when I first went to view all […]

What a fabulous afternoon… Terry and I photographed this beautiful couple’s wedding a while ago now, and I’ve done several portraiture updates of them over the years. I spent the afternoon with them last summer when they were back in New Zealand and captured their gorgeous children. With a beautiful mix of Sri Lankan and Brazilian heritage (and now located in Scotland) but totally kiwi through and through, of course the All Black theme was a must! On location in an olive grove, and to finish with, some fun in the studio….(one of these was my Gold Award in the classic portrait category at the NZIPP/Iris awards […]

These two lovelies…

These two booked in for a ‘Celebrate you’ session but they were adamant they didn’t want conventional…the brief was to create, and I wondered if i’d be able to rise to the challenge! I confess I was more than slightly zombified by our move of studio/home when this session took place (and I’m sure they thought I was a complete nutter running around shooting through fabrics/glass/plastic/textures/multi exp…yep, i pretty much did it all with this session) but we were all excited with the results. Thank you, lovelies, for being so open to my madness and crazy ideas…  : ) Nikon D810, lensbaby, 60mm Hair […]
